"So, pull here, and there is a knot in it": Ropes expert Egmont Friedl at the lecture
On the first Saturday of the fair, January 21, the temporary dropout, Leon Schulz, will explain the four steps of a long trip on your own keel to the public from 12 noon. He not only mentions the preparation time, but also the reintegration into everyday life. The author of the book “Sabbatical at Sea” speaks from experience: He left his previous life behind with his family and made a trip from Norway to the Caribbean on his own yacht.
Probably the best-known German circumnavigator of the world at the moment, Sönke Roever, will present his new book “1200 Days Saturday” as part of the multimedia lecture of the same name. Excerpts from this are shown. The 35-year-old spent more than three years on board the yacht "Hippopotamus" with his wife Judith. So he has a lot to talk about at the YACHT stand.
After the yacht of the extreme sailing couple Wilts, the "Freydis II", fell victim to a tsunami in Japan, the multiple circumnavigators set up their new ones themselves. At the YACHT stand, they reveal which equipment they use and which they leave out.
YACHT editor and travel specialist Andreas Fritsch gives informative lectures about the choice of the optimal charter provider and the suitable area. A must for those new to sailing who want to do everything right on their first vacation on the boat.
In addition to the blue water sailors, there are also many technology professionals at the start. Immediately after Leon Schulz, cordage practitioner Egmont Friedl demonstrates what modern ropes can really do. He also presents the viewers with valuable knot tricks that are hardly taught these days, but work perfectly.
TV meteorologist Dr. Meeno Schrader will show the audience how sailors can use the general weather situation to their advantage. Especially important in times when you are annoyed about the bad weather even in midsummer. So the lecture is definitely worth a visit.
Electronics are now on board in numerous books and guides. Marine radio specialist Klaus Schlösser explains how to use them skilfully and thereby also increase the safety of your own yacht.
