Sports boat harbor regulation - that sounds dusty and not particularly exciting. In truth, however, this bureaucratic construct causes considerable turmoil at the start of the season in Schleswig-Holstein. It will significantly change everyday sailing in the northernmost federal state: Visitors have to meet absurd demands, they are threatened with fines, berth prices are rising and the very existence of some small ports is even endangered.
Kiel has implemented a directive from Brussels, which was actually intended for commercial shipping, by means of a regulation for pleasure craft harbors. The consequences are fatal:
• Hanebueche requirements for the handling of garbage (e.g. the garbage bag must be disposed of each time before it is deposited, a half-full bag with leftovers from the port of departure is considered a violation of the regulations), • Safety regulations that can only be implemented with great effort and expense (e.g. fire extinguishers on all jetties, a maximum of 30 meters from each berth)• Tremendous additional administrative effort for the port operator, which makes the berths more expensive (e.g. classify the garbage according to the ends in 800 types and forecast for the next three years)• Threat of fines for sailors and port staff who do not fully comply with the shield citizens' ordinance (guests should denounce such marina employees using the form provided)
The reactions of the sailing representatives are unanimous, summarized representative Jürgen Christian Schaper, the honorary chairman of the Hamburg sailing association: "Pure nonsense".
