Johannes Erdmann has just finished high school, hardly any money, but a great longing. The ocean. Now he has fulfilled his dream of life - on a transatlantic cruise with a small, elderly fellowship from Lisbon to the Caribbean. An act that inspires courage because it shows that if you want to live your dream, you don't need riches - a few good ideas and a strong will are enough.
The Wolfsburg-born man starts to be enthusiastic about the high seas at the age of 10. He devours sailing books and the YACHT and decides: I will sail across the Atlantic. Suddenly, after school, his chance comes. The start of the study is delayed, unexpectedly there are a few months. And Erdmann becomes active: now or maybe never!
The 36-year-old "Maverick", bought on eBay, is quickly being made fit. Erdmann wins some companies as sponsors, they provide some of the equipment. Finally we can start. The "Maverick" is being trailered to Lisbon. That is where his great adventure begins. It will be a journey through all the ups and downs of single-handed sailing, with storms and lulls, euphoria and seasickness, enjoyment and worry. The trip succeeds, a remarkable undertaking.
What drives Erdmann and what happened to him on the Atlantic - you can read the story of his memorable journey in the new YACHT.
