Mouthpiece, contact point, news exchange and much more - almost 6000 long-distance sailors currently use the services of the association, which was established in 1968. The promotion of deep sea sailing is one of the main concerns.
Trans-Ocean, or TO for short, is based in Cuxhaven. The members, however, are scattered around the world. 244 alone are currently on a trip around the globe. Another 1375 are currently on long journeys somewhere on the world's oceans.
Men like Wilfried Erdmann helped found the history of the association. At the end of the 1960s, a sea voyage across the Atlantic and beyond was still to be equated with an almost daring adventure. Not much of that remains today. However, there is still a lot to do for TO.
Whether you help with the search for spare parts or with clearing in foreign countries, provide support with customs clearance or provide information about the area, the tasks of the association are diverse. Just like the stories of its members. They have a lot to report and often adventurous. They pass on their experiences to one another.
Everything about the history of TO, its partly famous heads, the experiences of its members and much more can be found in the new YACHT (issue 10/06, from now on at the kiosk).
