"Khersones"
The world's largest port festival, the 817th Hamburg port birthday, is taking place this weekend. A million visitors are expected in wonderful weather, the piers and pontoons are already full of colorfully flagged ships from all over the world - only a long-standing regular is missing. The “Khersones” is still being arbitrarily detained by the Ukrainian authorities. This scandal is demonstrated at the huge party.
Members of the "Freundeskreis e. V." and former trainees of the "Khersones" want to use the action on Saturday to draw attention to the month-long arrest of the sailing school ship in its home port of Kerch. In addition, individual Freundeskreis members will visit ships in the port of Hamburg to collect signatures from their captains for a declaration of solidarity with the ship's crew and the long-time captain Mikael Sukhin. The declaration and a list of signatures will be sent to the Ministry of Agriculture of Ukraine and the Ukrainian President Yushchenko in the coming days.
The demonstration participants will meet on Saturday, May 6th at 2 pm at the port gate on the festival mile (opposite the "Rickmer Rickmers").
