It is nothing more and nothing less than a complete, authentic harbor village from the age of windjammers and whalers, which was built on the banks of the Mystic River in the US state of Connecticut. But behind the facades of the houses and gates of the old factory halls there is more than just an image of everyday life from 200 years ago. Mystic Seaport preserves America's maritime legacy.

In galleries, archives, workshops, warehouses, libraries and shipyards, everything revolves around the history and preservation of traditional boat building. Mystic Seaport is a huge open-air museum in which the memory of life, everyday life and the residents of a once prosperous port town are preserved.

Maritime craft tradition, but of course also countless classic dinghies, yachts and tall ships form the heart of this probably unique exhibition. You could wander around the site for days, let yourself be captivated by the indescribable atmosphere of the place. In the old archives, there is no limit to the number of rifts, plans and drawings by famous and less famous yacht designers.

In the new edition of YACHT classic we are devoted to Mystic Seaport in detail. On display are beautiful ships, insights into old boat warehouses with some maritime treasures, impressions from the impressive Rosenfeld Collection presented in Mystic and much more.

YACHT classic 2/2006 is now available in newsagents.
