Jean Le Cam on "Bonduelle"

The Frenchman Jean Le Cam took over the top position with his "Bonduelle" at the weekend from his compatriot Vincent Riou on "PRB". His 80-nautical-mile tour in the meantime has shrunk to 30 miles by today, Monday morning.

With a route east of Cape Verde, Jean Le Cam and his "Bonduelle" overtook the previous leaders on Saturday. This morning at 5 o'clock the Frenchman was leading "PRB" with 30 nautical miles ahead of Vincent Riou.

The British Mike Golding with "Ecover" fell significantly over the weekend. He is now sailing a whopping 152 nautical miles behind Le Cam.

Far, far back: Norbert Sedlacek on "Brother")

Far, far behind the top, Norbert Sedlacek (see also portrait in Yacht 23/04) is the only German-speaking skipper in the field. This morning the Viennese was a full 830 nautical miles behind the leader. But that alone is not that bad, the 42-year-old never imagined that he would be able to sail in the front because his "brother" is an old vehicle compared to the other ships.

In the meantime, however, the Austrian is also increasingly losing touch with the rest of the fleet. Sedlacek is even 240 nautical miles away from the French woman Karen Leibovici, who is sailing in front of him with her "Benefic". Apparently he's sailing his own race.

But it's not all evening yet. there are still more than 20,000 nautical miles to go before the yachts can moor in Les Sables d’Olonne again. Until then, a lot can still happen. Sedlacek seems to remember the mother of the china box.
