The alliance of those who oppose the plans of the Federal Ministry of Transport revealed by YACHT is growing rapidly. For the first time, a training umbrella organization is calling for resistance: the Association of German Water Sports Schools e. V. (VDWS).
Thomas Weinhardt, 1st Chairman of the VDWS, informed his approximately 2000 members about the events by email and encouraged them to act: "I can only urge all members: Support this action, because it's about our sport!" The association (www.vdws.de) organizes over 475 water sports stations in more than 32 countries. According to its own statements, the VDWS introduced 2.1 million newcomers to the sport. And the members also do not remain idle and spread the appeal by e-mail, sometimes with additional information about the urgency of the matter: “That concerns us all !!! Please read this text correctly and respond immediately. Certain authorities in Germany want to make water sports (almost) impossible in the future! We have to do something against this and especially against the newly staged 'false madness'!"
It is a large and colorful coalition that is currently being formed. Among other things, well-known water sports journalists have already participated and, interestingly, representatives of shipping companies and other people from the professional shipping industry - however, some of the pending tightening was justified with alleged problems between sailors and professional shipping.
