America's Cup helmsman Flavio Favini and the crew of the host yacht club CostSmerald won the Champions League final in their home area off Sardinia. With Federico Michetti, Branko Brcin and LucFaravelli and 28 points on the account, the Melges world champion prevailed against 31 other club teams from a total of 14 countries. The Italians won the European club title ahead of the Russian sailing club Ost Legal Sailing (32 points) from Vladivostok and the Société Nautique de Genève (36 points), which rose to international fame with Alinghi victories in the America's Cup in 2003 and 2007.

The best German teams were the Norddeutsche RegattVerein with helmsman Tobias Schadewaldt, Florian Spalteholz, Niklas von Meyerinck and Florian Weser and the Seglerhaus am Wannsee club with Jan Jasper Wagner, Elias Rothe, Yannek Wloch and Julian Bergemann tied for sixth with 40 points each and seven. Twelfth place went to the Lindau Sailing Club with Veit Hammeter, Fabian Gielen, Martin Hastenkamp and Yannick Netzband. The two-time club champions from the German Touring Yacht Club with helmsman Maximilian Weiss, Luis Tarabocchia, Dominik Müller and Marco Tarabocchia took 23rd place.
The next final awaits the league teams at home soon: the Bundesliga final will take place in Berlin from November 2nd to 4th. Before that, the DSL Cup will be in front of Glücksburg from October 13th to 15th.
