
At the beginning of the sixties he sailed the Mediterranean, the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean with a Hansa dinghy. In 1963 he crossed the Atlantic with one hand on a 5.60 meter long spear wood boat. Three circumnavigations of the world and 40 years later Rollo Gebhard takes stock of his career.
He is considered a blue water sailor from the very beginning. On his many sailing trips around the world, Rollo Gebhard fought against storms, pirates and loneliness. He was always looking for new experiences and experiences.
With the 7.30 meter long “Solveig III” he sailed around the world twice with one hand, covering over 75,000 nautical miles. The now 86-year-old describes this period as the most important years of his life.
Two decades ago, the adventurer left his boat to the Bremerhaven Shipping Museum. At that time he promised: "I'll be back, because the boat is a part of me."
40 years after his first circumnavigation of the world, Rollo Gebhard has now returned to the “Solveig III”. On board his old ship, he once again reviewed his varied, adventurous life for the YACHT.
