Facing new tasks: Arved Fuchs, the adventurer from Bad Bramstedt

Arved Fuchs, 61, is scheduled to leave the Flensburg Museum Harbor around noon. With his shark cutter "Dagmar Aaen", the adventurer sets off on this year's expedition to the east coast of Greenland. The highest mountain on the island is to be climbed there.

The company bears the name "Pittarik", which is the local language for the dangerous fall winds that frequently occur in the area.

At the Mikis Fjord on the east coast of the island, a trio around the Chilean mountaineer Dr. Pablo Besser, 43, left the shark cutter to climb Gunnbjørn Fjeld. At 3694 meters, it is the highest mountain north of the Arctic Circle and very difficult to access due to its exposed location. The mountaineering team has to cope with the 70 kilometers on skis and overcome the Sorgenfri Glacier in the process.

During the mountain tour Arved Fuchs will visit the fjord landscape of the east coast of Greenland with the "Dagmar Aaen". Only a few adventurers have explored the route between Angmassalik and Scoresby Sound. A scientific program is being carried out in parallel with the exploration of the Arctic's most ice-rich fjords. For Hamburg-based FirmSubCtech, the crew will use the "OceanPack" measuring system to record valuable information such as carbon dioxide, salt content, temperature or chlorophyll fluorometer and meteorological data.

Three days after the departure of the "Dagmar Aaen", the eighth edition of the climate camp "Ice Climate Education" initiated by Arved Fuchs begins. On board the "Ryvar" ten young people from eight nations will again deal intensively with the climate problem. The ten-day trip goes from the Norwegian Sogndal at the eastern end of the Sognefjord to Bergen.
