40s archipelago cruiser on Lake Starnberg
Under the motto "Sailing and steering for a good cause", over 780 participants will fight for places, trophies and for a good cause at the tiller and behind the wheel next weekend. In addition to old automobiles, spectators at Chronoswiss Classics in Starnberg can experience numerous classic dinghies and yachts in action.
From kites to self-made 40s archipelago cruisers, the starting field on the lake offers an interesting mix of different traditional classes. For the first time, it is not serenity and elegance, but rather the speed and skill of the teams that are assessed.
A "W course" has been specially designed for observers on land. This forces the sailors to do many maneuvers close to the shore and thus close to the spectators.
In addition to numerous celebrities, such as the daily announcer Jan Hofer and pop singer Peter Kraus, tornado world champion Roland Gäbler has also announced himself as a guest.
According to the principle of “fascination with nautomobility”, races will be held from September 7th to 9th in five different categories, from the “oldtimer rally” in the Bavarian foothills to the “traditional regatta” on the Sarnberger See. Donations are collected for the “Water Foundation”. The organization works for people who suffer from water shortages.
