The Copdel Rey in August is one of the most demanding and popular professional offshore regattas in the world. Now the exclusive Real Club Nautico of Palmde Mallorc opens its doors not only to the well-bred racers, but also to amateur sailors and their yachts in April. You are open to all classes, including charter yachts, and you can expect up to 400 entries.
The Real Club Nautico wants to organize the largest regatt of the Mediterranean with the Palmaveld. From April 15 to 24, 2005, cups will be sailed in many classes of different categories on the bay. From April 15 to 19, classic cars, One Designs (Farr 40, Swan 45, First), IMS and IRC yachts as well as charter yachts will be at the start. A track is also designed for historical Latainer classics.
Big boats like Wallys and Maxi-Racer will sail from April 20th to 24th.
Depending on the class and the weather, a total of four or five races will be sailed.
In addition to the races, there will be events for the crews and guests on the grounds of the Yacht Club and in a Maxi Race Village.

The Four Stripes Challenge for the fastest monohull around Palma
As part of the Palmavel, the Realclub Palm has announced the Four Stripes Challenge for the fastest circumnavigation of the island with a monohull. The 150 nautical mile distance with start and finish in front of the port of Palmund around the four capes of Mallorca, Cap Salines, Capdepera, Cap Formentor, Dragonera, can take place between April 10 and 29, 2005 (five days before and after the Palmavela) can be started at any time of the day or night. The choice of course is free. There is still no official record.
The fastest yacht has the right to carry the Four Stripes banner at the stern, there is a trophy to be won and yacht and crewn names will be presented in the clubhouse until the existing record is broken. All participants of the Palmavel have the right to sail the Four Stripes Challenge and are accepted as challengers, non-participants must apply to the club. All documents at www.palmavela.com.
