Ellen MacArthur was named lady by the Queen at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday. At the age of 28, Ellen is the youngest woman ever to receive this honor.

The accolade for her fantastic achievement of sailing around the world solo as the fastest sailor should finally make the British sailing icon well known in her own country and far beyond. Long celebrated by the media as the shining light of sailing, the Queen has now added another building block to the Ellen MacArthur memorial with the award of the lady title.

Meanwhile, her trimaran "B&Q" has been completely overhauled for seven weeks in Lorient, France, following the record (71 days, 14 hours, 18 minutes, 33 seconds). "B&Q" has already covered 48,000 nautical miles of the world's oceans since it was launched just 15 months ago. Project manager Oli Allard was very satisfied with the refit on the 75-foot tri. "We haven't had too many bad surprises," he said. In his opinion, MacArthur could soon set sail again with their ship to break more records.

Ellen herself took a well-deserved break from sailing in April, regenerating mentally and physically. In April she toured the UK to meet sponsorship and media appointments. In May, however, she and her Tri will be on standby again. For example, she wants to break the record from St. Malo to St. Nazaire with a crew. She would also like to set the solo best times for the Cowes-St. Secure Malo and around the Isle of Wight. Ladies choice of a special kind.
