Helmsman Paul Kohlhoff and his crew were very satisfied after the first day of sailing: "We should have won the second race, but then at some point we lost our rhythm." It went very well for the Germans, who even came first on the windward and leeward tiers in the second and third races, but then lost the victory due to a few mistakes. "We got a bit greedy, really wanted to win," said Paul Kohlhoff later in an interview on land. Trying to cover Artemis' strong Swedes distracted the team in their own words.
However, SVB Team Germany is still in an excellent position. After the first of two days of racing, they are very well in third place and would thus make it to the final, which the first four of the two groups reach. For fourth place they already have a small cushion of five points. The Germans are sailing in group B, the group has already determined the four finalists. There Team New Zealand won ahead of the British from Landrover BAR and Spain.
The favorites of the German group before the start were the Swedes from Artemis Racing, who are now also in the lead, and the Swiss from Team Tilt. This evening races 4 to 6 will take place, unfortunately the races will not be broadcast on Servus TV on the internet as before. If they reach the final, it goes on 20/21. June continues.
