Fritz Trippolt from Bregenz won the long-distance regatt "Rund Um" on Lake Constance. With his D35 catamaran "Skinfit", the Austrian needed only 6 hours and 22 minutes for the 100-kilometer route from Lindau via Romanshorn, Konstanz, Überlingen and back to the finish, thus winning the Blue Ribbon from Lake Constance. As the second boat, only 11 minutes behind, the "Orange Utan" of last year's winner Ralph Schatz from the organizing Lindau Sailing Club crossed the finish line. Third was Albert Schiess from Switzerland with his almost legendary "Holy Smoke". In the end he was 15 minutes behind the winning boat.

Fastest to the finish line: Fritz Trippolt's "Skinfit" catamaran won the Blue Ribbon from Lake Constance

Wolfgang Palm's "Wild Lady" finished the big round as the fastest monohull. The Canting-Keeler needed 7 hours and 42 minutes for the route. The Blue Cup for the fastest ship without moving ballast went to the "Shooting Star" by Dieter Kurz. For the first time this year, the Sailing MediPreis was announced for the fastest monohull boat according to the calculated time. It was won by the Swiss Hans-Jörg Etter from Arbon on a Henderson 30.

Despite good wind conditions, it was not enough for a new record. In 2008 Jonny Hutchcroft sailed the big lap with his catamaran "Holmatro" in just 4 hours and 41 minutes. Joschi Entner from Austria holds the record for the fastest monohull on his Libera racing yacht "Principessa" with a sailed time of 5 hours and 4 minutes. That was in 2000.

Around 90 percent of all boats launched have completed the "Rund um 2017". "We have seldom had such beautiful conditions", sums up a satisfied race director Achim Holz from the organizing Lindau Sailing Club LSC following the award ceremony in Lindau. And further: "The notorious nocturnal lulls did not even occur in the Überlinger See." After the start on Friday evening with almost two winds from the southwest, the wind later turned to north and freshened up a bit. The large field was driven across the finish line in front of Lindau on Saturday morning in a fresh westerly wind.
