
The bascule bridge over Masnedsund will remain closed until the new construction in 2020
From now on the Vordingborger Südhafen can no longer be entered via Masnedsund. The 78-year-old bascule bridge in the south of the island of Zealand will remain permanently closed until it is rebuilt in 2020. it only has a clearance height of 4.80 meters. From now on, sailors who want to come to the southern harbor from the Småland fairway have to cross the Storstrømbrücke and pass the island of Masnedø to the south. A new fairway over the eastern flat has already been set up. The concrete channel between Kalve- and Færgestrøm is five meters deep and 45 meters wide.

The Storstrøm Bridge has a clearance height of 26 meters
The bridge closure is related to the modernization of the railway lines for the fixed Fehmarn Belt link. A new bridge is to be built over Masnedsund by 2020.
