In action: the Mak Seven in the YACHT test

The Polish shipyards have long since proven that they can do more than just lay down cruising ships that often seem a bit old-fashioned. At regular intervals they surprise with boats that are consistently trimmed for performance, where sailing fun is clearly above living comfort. Mak Seven is such a newcomer.

Seven meters long, two and a half meters wide, weighs 1.2 tons, the draft is variable thanks to the retractable sword, the sail area on the wind is a good 30 square meters - these are the core data of the inland speedster. The sails load number is 5.3 in the high range, it characterizes the construction as a fast sailor.

It was designed in Germany by Dieter Hagenah, who has already made a name for himself with the Mak Ten. The ship is built in Szczecin.

Despite all the performance orientation, the boat is by no means just something for experienced and well-rehearsed regatta crews. On the contrary. The handling is deliberately kept simple, so that even beginners will quickly feel comfortable on board.

How the Mak Seven proves itself in practice, what strengths and weaknesses it reveals, how it is with all the sportiness of the living comfort and last but not least what the fun costs, all this can be read in the new YACHT (issue 25-26 / 08, available in newsagents from Wednesday).
