Larsson is a gifted boat builder who became known far beyond the borders of his Swedish homeland - his book on the care, refit and preservation of wooden boats is considered a standard work. Only: his shipyard no longer exists, a fire ate everything. Visiting an indomitable idealist.
The 57-year-old has been sailing wooden boats since childhood, he built and restored countless ones. Among them are real treasures, his customers came from all over Europe. The YACHT told Larsson what drives someone like him and what makes such restorations so fascinating: "Before every new project you stand and ask yourself: Hm, how do I best do it now?" more individual, no two are alike - and the requirements are extremely complex.
Larsson copes with such work like no other, he is both an artist and a master craftsman. Of all people, the disaster struck him. His shipyard, the Yachtsnickeriet near Stockholm, burned down: ships, buildings, data - all gone. The damage goes into the millions. Although the shipyard of some yachts can hardly be quantified: irreplaceable.
In the YACHT, Larsson describes the worst hours of his life and turns out to be a fighter. He literally wants to rebuild his shipyard from scratch. How he wants to do this and how he coped with the blow of fate can be read in the current issue.
