"ICAP Maximus"
The German maxi “Uca” arrived this morning at 06:01:20 as the eighth yacht to cross the finish line. According to the calculated time it is currently in 3rd place. While it is unlikely to be able to maintain this excellent rank, the "ICAP Maximus" has a real chance of winning even after a calculated time.
This year's Fastnet Race is still characterized by the prevailing weak wind. The participating teams keep a particularly close look: If you want to reach one of the top places, you should stay away from the wind holes that repeatedly strain the nerves of the sailors. Steve White from the Open 50 “OlympiChallenger” reported yesterday: “This morning was very painful because there were spots with no wind at all. Sometimes the boat speed was absolutely zero."
While the majority of the yachts still have several hours ahead of them - eight teams of the original 286 have already given up, including the Maxi "Arnold Clark Drum" - eleven yachts have crossed the finish line, five of them Open 60s. The 30-meter-long Maxi “ICAP Maximus” reached the finish on Wednesday at 8:22:07 am. As expected, “SkandiWild Thing” came in second, but only at 21:13:31 on the same day.

"Uca"
The crew of the German maxi “Uca”, who is in eighth place in terms of sailing time, had to watch as three Open 60 yachts crossed the finish line in front of them. First at the Open 60 after sailing time was the French "Virbac-Paprec" by Jean-Pierre Dick, which arrived today at 00:22:13, second was the "Cheminées Poujoulat" by Swiss Bernhard Stamm, which shortly afterwards at 00: At 39:27 hrs the finish line crossed, and third was Roland Jourdain's “Sill & Véolia”, who finished her race at 02.24: 43 hrs.
According to yesterday's calculations, the Irish yacht “Patches” of the type TP 52 posed a serious threat to the “Maximus”. However, after she crossed the finish line as the eleventh yacht this morning at 09:22:19, it is clear that she was the New Zealand "Maximus" could not push from first place. "Patches" is currently in second place and has thus ousted the German team of "Uca" from this rank.
Until the time when all yachts have arrived at the destination, some of the ranking will change. So stands z. E.g. the Dutch Swan 45 “Charisma”, which yesterday was in the lead according to the calculated time.
