If it is your turn, your next possible sailing options will be displayed. The range varies depending on the wind strength
If you can't get enough of regatta sailing, you can now compete against each other far from the water. The "Sail Chase" app is in the tradition of the parlor game - with the difference that instead of the traditional wooden board, a tablet computer is now the focus.

"Sail Chase" was developed by the two ambitious French sailors Jean Pierre Nicol, 37, winner of many national French and international titles, and Bertrand Castelnerac, 35, multiple participant in the Tour de France à lVoile, the Minitransat and Transat AG2R. The two want to share their passion for regatta sailing with others and convey the strategy in the fight for the best course in a playful way.
At "Sail Chase", players can choose from six different sailing areas in three levels of difficulty and participate with up to four boats. The three basic rules of evasion apply. As a single player, the game is not played against the software, but for time. From the starting line at the bottom of the field, the cross leads to the buoy, which is left on the port side, and back to the finish. The boat can be moved up to three fields by currents, drifts and gusts.
The player can choose from different sailing areas, which differ in terms of currents and wind conditions
In your turn, your next sailing opportunities are displayed on the playing field. If the player chooses the expert mode, he can choose the wind strength himself and thus decisively influence his tactics. Each Beaufort value is only available to a limited extent.
Instead of trying to get as close as possible to reality by multiplying parameters, "Sail Chase" concentrates solely on strategy and the most important patterns of sailing regattas, according to the official game description. Nevertheless, there is also a "hint of opportunity". Thanks to the user-friendly interface, the app is easily accessible and also understandable for non-sailors.
The development of "Sail Chase" was financed through crowdfunding. The goal of 3,000 euros set by Nicol and Castelnerac was even exceeded. The website used, ecosea.com, specializes in projects related to the sea. Normally, these are mainly used to support environmental projects, trips and participation in regattas.
So far, "Sail Chase" is only available for the iPad and costs 4.99 euros. An online mode for those who cannot sit together at the table is planned as the next development step. "Sail Chase" should also soon be available for Android operating systems.
