The "Soufrière" in the Bond film in action

Anyone who has always wanted to feel like a real James Bond has to come to the "On-Water Yacht & Boat Show" in St. Katharine Docks in London in May. The "Soufrière", the 54-foot-long wooden yacht from the 2005 blockbuster "Casino Royal", will be for sale there. In the film, Daniel Craig sails together with EvGreen, who plays the Bond girl Vesper Lynd, on her off Venice.

The custom built by the British shipyard Spirit Yachts was created according to the wishes of the film production company. Above all, the many bridges made problems for the yacht in Bond times: "Probably the most challenging trip of the 'Soufrière' was the film shoot in Venice, when we had to assemble and dismantle the rig ten times. It was the first sailing yacht in 300 years, who went up the Grand Canal, "says Sean McMillan, director of Spirit Yachts.

With a strong rig and a displacement of just over eight tons, the "Soufrière" should be particularly suitable for long-distance regattas - but at the same time offer the conditions for cruising. After she has already been sailed extensively in recent years, the previous owner has now decided to sell it. At her home yard in Ipswich, Suffolk, she was recently completely overhauled from engine to masthead. Both the wooden interior lining and the fuselage have been repainted and varnished.

Sean McMillan is confident that “Soufrière” has secured a place in British film history with its appearance in “Casino Royal”: “What better place than London, the home of James Bond, to present it to the public again?"
