The sailing scene is eagerly following the development of the weather at the start of spring. For some, there is already a special focus on the Easter weather, even if Easter comes quite early this year. But everyone has the same wish; the desire for calm and mild Easter weather. On the one hand, those who still have work to do on the underwater hull and, on the other hand, those who have already had their boats craned. There are not many of them yet, but when you take a walk in the harbors you can slowly notice that the season is starting and the first ships are in the water. So if you already have your boat in the water, you will certainly want to use the days off to make your first strokes. On the other hand, the weather in the coming days presents itself as rather moody, because a stable good weather high over all days is not in sight
The weather on Good Friday
And so we start on Good Friday under the influence of an Icelandic low, which causes a foothill to swing diagonally over Germany and thus ensures rain for a long time. The south-westerly wind reaches strengths 3 to 5 Bft inland and up to 6 Bft on the coasts. Conclusion: Sailable, yes, but rather a good test for the new oilskin that was purchased at the last fair.
The weather for Saturday
Saturday looks better. The air is still humid and fog forms out of the night, but it is quickly driven north by the southern wind and so the sun can show itself under high influence. So it's dry and friendly. The wind takes a while until it reaches 3-4 Bft and so the afternoon is best for sailing here. Conclusion: Good day to make the first hits, with the air temperatures rising significantly.
The weather on Easter Sunday
The name Zwischenhoch suggests it, because on Easter Sunday the influence loses again against a newly forming deep complex over Great Britain. This causes a new rain front to come up from the west on Sunday and so in many places you will only be able to move around with dry feet in the morning. The eastern parts of the country are favored here, especially in terms of temperatures. Up to 17 degrees are possible in Berlin and Bradenburg, for example. If you still want to venture out on the water, you can expect 4 to 5 winds from south to south-east in front of the front, but quickly up to 8 Bft in gusts within the rain front. Conclusion: Only something for early risers among the skippers.
The weather on Easter Monday
On Easter Monday the deep complex can become even stronger and so after a short period of rest and some sunshine in the first half of the day, the next deep spur with rain follows from the North Sea and France. The initially weak to moderate southerly wind freshened up with the approach and falls in the afternoon at the latest, it becomes strong gusty, sometimes also stormy. After all, the temperatures can stay in the double-digit range almost all over Germany. Conclusion: Here, too, the early risers still have a chance for a weather window for sailing.
