Wind force 2 to 3, bright sunshine: In front of the backdrop of the Graswarder in front of Heiligenhafen and the Fehmarnsund Bridge, the officials sailed their trophy for the 13th time. The regatt was embedded in the day of the state police of Schleswig-Holstein.

The sailors came from the police, customs, coast guard, tax administration and federal police (the former Federal Border Police) from a total of eight federal states. The patron was State Police Director Wolfgang Pistol.

The regatt takes place annually, alternating with neighboring countries such as Holland and Sweden, and in turn in the 16 federal states. It is primarily used for exchanging ideas with one another. Non-German colleagues did not start this time.

“It's like everywhere with recreational regattas,” said co-organizer Rolf Lange from Kiel, “some of the 32 teams are dogged, for others it's more of a 'social event'.” Eight races were sailed on Saturday. The Bennewitz sailing school provided the dinghies for this. Although the regatta was stopped early on Sunday due to the lack of wind, the beautiful weather was one of the reasons for the success and satisfaction of the participants.

At 2 p.m., the award ceremony was held in the marquee at the harbor, as planned, by the Minister of the Interior of Schleswig-Holstein, Dr. Ralf Stegner. The challenge cup went to the winners Marco Antler and Adrianus Boonekamp from the Federal Police.

An organizer is still being sought for the 2006 Police Regatta. Interested parties can contact Rolf Lange ([email protected]).
