With a distance of only five nautical miles, the six-person crew passed the cape that had cost them so much time. Shortly before they reached it, "Idec Sport" got stuck in the light wind, and so the big black rival was able to pack around 230 miles between himself and his pursuer. But the crew should have enjoyed the moment anyway. For Boris Herrmann it was already the fourth passage of the landmark.

And the start into the Atlantic looks anything but ideal: Again, weak winds await the sailors directly around the Falklands, the St. Helena high also extends far to the west, the way to the equator is not going to be an easy one. D "Banque Populaire V" came relatively well to the north after the Cape, the team should fall behind the record again.

DonBertarelli and Yann Guichard's team opted for a course extremely close to land. It will be interesting to see which route Francis Joyon will take.
